GKTech 86 / GR86 / BRZ Front Superlock combo
SKU: 86DRIFT
The GKTECH Super Lock combo is designed for those that are
looking for a combo to get everything at once, install it and dial it in with
some seat time.
As opposed to piecing a kit together one by one, which ends
up costing more in the long run and can be more frustrating, we do recommend
doing things once and doing things right.
The new GKTECH suspension arms are unlike any other
suspension arms on the market and they're manufactured to a standard not made
available to the average motorsport enthusiast: CAD designed, FEA tested, CNC
machined ends and TIG welded and to finish the arms off they're E-coated (aka
electrophoresis coating) for rust prevention and we're exclusively using high
quality 5/8" Teflon lined rod ends.
Below if a brief explanation of the products in this combo,
however, more information can be seen in the links provided;
FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS/CASTER ARMS
Front lower control arms allow for the ability to change
your front track. In this instance each side is adjustable from OEM length
through to +30mm or the longer version being +40mm through to +70mm. Caster
arms (aka tension rods) allow adjustment in vehicle castor to bring the wheels
forward and increase steering response. In general, the more caster the better.
Allowing sharper turn in and faster return to the straight position when
letting go of the wheel.
BOLT ON STEERING KIT
This kit bolts straight up to the OEM knuckle, is
lightweight yet robust and offers 30% faster steering, around 60 degrees of
lock and now with adjustable ackerman it is literally almost too good to be
true, but … it is!
SUPER LOCK DRIFT KNUCKLES
The super lock drift knuckles have been designed and tailor
made specifically for drifting. They feature 35% increase in steering speed
compared to OEM along having adjustable Ackermann. The bump steer has also been
corrected to ensure consistent handling over uneven surfaces as well as having
inbuilt 35mm of roll centre correction and inbuilt caster trail!
SWAYBAR END LINKS
These adjustable swaybar end links have been designed for
both adjustability for lowered vehicles and to feature high levels of
misalignment to ensure that throughout your suspensions range of travel you
don't have issues with bind. With 30mm of adjustment your swaybar will be
exactly where you want it.
NOTE: OEM end link will not work with our FLCA's. If you
wanted to run the OEM swaybar in the front, then you will need to include the
swaybar end links. If you did not want to run the OEM swaybar, then you do not
need to include it.
INNER TIE RODS
Depending on whether you run rack spacers or not and also
the length that you set the LCA at you will need different length inner tie
rods. We have made inner tie rods that had enough adjustment to suit any
configuration with our LCA's.
OFFSET RACK SPACERS & WELD IN KIT OR THE
STEERING RACK RELOCATION KIT
If you are running an extremely short tension rod, the
longest FLCA possible and the most caster available from strut top, which is a
unique combination, then you may see steering bind in which either the offset
rack spacers or the steering rack relocation kit are required. The offset rack
spacer do require modifications to the cross member through cutting and
re-welding as does the rack relocation kit, more information can be seen in the
below link.
CAMBER AND CASTER ADJUSTABLE STRUT TOPS
Our strut tops requiring no additional modifications and
allow for on-car adjustment of both camber and caster, providing a significant
adjustment range.
FAQs
Do I need offset rack spacers or the rack
relocation kit?
The offset rack spacers or rack relocation kit will give
better steering feel in general as it is more linear force near the maximum
steering lock.
However, most setups will not bind unless you are running
an extremely short tension rod, the longest FLCA possible and the most caster
available from strut top, which is a unique combination.
If you are running a common setup, which most people are
with normal specs being around 5-8 degrees of caster, 0-3 degrees of camber and
some toe-out then you shouldn't see any steering bind.
I have the rack relocation kit, do I need rack
spacers also?
No, our inner tie rod ends already have 5mm of travel
inbuilt into them.
How much angle can I get out of these LCA's?
Our lower control arms can support around 65 degrees of
steering lock!
How hard are these to fit?
They are quite easy to install but mechanical knowledge is
required and recommended.
We also include an assembly guide on most product pages,
that can be seen above. You are also welcome to get in touch if you need help.
But apart from that, remove your standard LCA's and
compression rods and the LCA's will bolt straight in.
What size wheel spec should I use for best
clearance?
Any size wheel would work, but optimally for the GT86
chassis you want as much inside clearance as possible so that you can clear the
frame rails etc on lock.
When testing we used a 18x9 +12 wheel for most of our bolt
on angle kit testing to get the most amount of lock.
What happens if a bearing needs to be replaced?
They are common sized bearings, which can be found at any
local bearing supplier.
The ball joints used are an OEM style unit.
The rose/ heim joints used are PCML12TES
Are these suited to circuit/grip racing?
Yes, absolutely. These arms use of spherical bearings which
do make them entirely useful for circuit/grip racing by eliminating bush
deflection. Coupled with the built-in caster angle and the additional
adjustment to increase track width.
Do I need to do any other modifications to get
the most from these LCA's?
You can bolt them in as they are, however, you would only
increase your track and caster angle.
Ideally, you would get these alongside our bolt on steering
kit if you're looking for more steering lock (drift car) and either the bolt on
rack spacers or the offset rack spacers. If you plan to run a swaybar either
for grip or drift setups, you will need to use in conjunction with our
adjustable swaybar end link (refer to product GT86-FELS). In addition to the
swaybar end link, if you run the LCA's much longer than OEM you will need
longer tie rods (like the ones we sell, sold separately)
Will these fit my car?
We can only confirm fitment for the vehicles listed above
under "confirmed fitment".
How long is the warranty on these arms?
All GKTECH suspension arms come with a lifetime warranty
against manufacturing defects.
The PTFE lined rose/ heim joints come with a 1 year
replacement warranty and as mentioned, they are a common size which can be
found at any local bearing supplier, or we do keep them on the shelf!
Are these suspension arms legal for use on
street cars?
We do recommend that you contact your local RTA for
clarification/confirmation if you intend to run on a street car. Whether you
use a suspension arm with a rose joint on public roads is at your discretion.
Are there any special tools required?
No, a wrench will do the job.
