Honda Civic Type R EP3

The Honda Civic EP3 Type R is called one of the best naturally aspirated cars in the world and it has the handling to match. As shown on Top Gear the EP3 model is faster in a straight line as well in the bends than the new model

With the new Type R out now the second hand value has put the EP3 at a value for the masses

This is why we decided to get one and use it as a show car

The Type R will get the full V-I-P treatment using all the products we supply and the services we can offer you as a customer

 

The Start

This is how we got the EP3

We are going to face lift the Civic to 2004 by changing the head lights and rear lights and getting the windows tinted

To change the front lights was a big job, the whole front end needed to be removed in order to do it properly

 

While the car was stripped a set of HID lights were also fitted.

To give the car the JDM look the rear wiper had to go

Here is a night shot of the car as it stands at the moment

A set of Integra DC5 wheels have been fitted and also the standard front seats swopped for Sparco Bucket seats in red to match the red Type R badges

Uprated Exhaust and induction kit has also been fitted....

Induction Kit - BMC Carbon Filter with cold feed piped from front bumper

Exhaust - HKS Hi Power cat back exhaust with up and out back box (comes out of rear bumper on a angle)

 

 

UPDATE...

This car is going to be used as a show car and on track days to show what we at V-I-P can do... so we have done some more changes

 Firstly a set of BC coilovers were fitted so the right ride height and level of damping can be applied to the car for road use, shows aswell as track days.

 A new set of larger wheel have been fitted to give more clearance for bigger brakes

The wheels are Weds Sport wheels in matt grey with blue egding in 8 x 18 inch

The rear seats have been removed to reduce weight in the car

And finally at this stage the car has been stickered up in V-I-P livery to help promote the business

The main wrapping was done in matt vinyl to give a contrast to the metallic paint work

And for the added wow factor the company logo is displayed in Holograhic Vinyl that reflects light to draw attention in the day or night.... it really looks great!!!

As a new show season started the EP3 needed a face lift.

We really wonted a touge race look and take pointers off time attack aero packes running this year

So at the rear we removed the standard Type R spoiler and fitted a Mugen item. The spoiler was painted the body colour but to add a twist we carbon wrapped the centre section. We also removed the wrapped orange roof.

At the front was allready a Mugen front lip but we add so Canards or Winglets and also carbon wrapped to give some flow to the car.EP3's are known to suck in alot of hot air thought there air filter due to were they are in the engine bay.We already had a BMC induction kit fitted with a cold air feed but it was not up to the job. So we cut a large intake into the front bumper and fitted an inlet trupet to feed straight into the BMC

The civic has now got a 4-2-1 manifod fitted and uprated engine mounts as due to fitting this type of manifold it an rattle on the rear mount but by putting in a stiffer item the engine flex is removed and this also gives better launch and now the EP3 is running a Hondata ECU K-Pro which is full mapped includes a new red line (9500rpm) and launch control this is turning into the prefect track weapon.

Our time with the EP3 has come to an end.

To help fund our new up and coming projects the civic was put for sale and was sold on one of our customers so at least be will still get to see it and will help maintain it hopefully for years to come. It may even come to a few shows with us... so keep your eyes peeled
