Approaching its 20th anniversary, the 5th generation E9x 3 Series continued BMW’s fine reputation for making executive-quality mid-sized cars, to cater to all tastes. It offers enough luxury, practicality, and comfort for everyday use while maintaining a sporty edge for weekend getaways.

This flexibility and wide range of use can take a toll on a car though, and these models are now reaching an age where major repairs or restoration work may be required.

One such area is the vehicle's complex multi-link rear suspension, characterised by its mass of arms and mounts. Looseness and thumping noises from the rear suspension often indicate a worn shock absorber or a commonly failing rubber lower connecting mount.

As this flexible rubber mount is located at the end of the damper, it experiences heavy compression loads and must accommodate angular changes, leading to load and age-related wear. To compound the problem further, its low mounting point and exposure to the elements cause the rubber to degrade, further reducing stiffness and control in the rear suspension.

PFR5-417 Rear Lower Shock Mounting Bush & Bracket provides the perfect solution for all non-M E8x 1 Series, E9x 3 Series and E84 X1.

Supplied as a black anodised, CNC-machined Aluminium 6082 bracket, Purple 80ShA bush and mounting hardware, this new part ticks all the boxes for longevity, performance, and improved shock efficiency, complementing any rear suspension replacement or upgrade.

It is also available in our Black Series 95ShA material for increased stiffness and greater resistance to wear - ideal for vehicles used on Track / Motorsport with reduced ride height and limited suspension travel, where bush articulation is not as severe.
